WHAT FUEL DOES YOUR BOILER NEED?
Our Wide Range Of Boiler Fuel Types
At Housewarmers, we install a wide range of boiler types and have the experience to recommend and fit the system that best suits your home.
Gas
Gas boilers run on natural gas supplied through the mains and are the most common choice, especially in built-up areas. If you have a gas meter and receive bills from a gas provider, your home is likely connected to natural gas.
LPG
LPG boilers use fuel delivered to your property and stored in a tank or cylinder. They look similar to gas boilers, but the presence of an LPG tank is the main indicator. LPG systems are widely used in rural areas where mains gas isn’t available.
Oil
Oil boilers use fuel stored in an outdoor tank that’s topped up by delivery. They’re usually larger than gas boilers and often floor-standing, with some models suitable for outside installation. These systems are typical in rural areas without gas networks.
Please note: we do not currently install oil boilers
Electric
Electric boilers use electricity instead of a combustible fuel. They should not be confused with small electric water boilers used for kettles or hot drinks. An electric boiler is a full heating system designed to warm your home.
DIFFERENT BOILERS
Boiler Types
What are the different boiler types you can get?
Combi (combination) boilers are the most popular and cost-effective choice for many homes. They provide heating and hot water from one compact unit, heating water directly from the mains whenever a tap is turned on.
They’re ideal for properties with limited space, as they don’t require a hot water cylinder or rooftop tank. Combi boilers are also highly efficient because they only heat the water you use. Installations are typically quick—often completed within half a day.
Because they rely on mains pressure, you may notice reduced flow if multiple taps or showers are used at once. In homes with higher hot water demand, a system boiler may be a better fit. We offer combi boilers with up to 12 years manufacturer’s warranty.
System boilers store hot water in a cylinder but house most other components within the boiler itself. They’re perfect for homes with multiple bathrooms where hot water may be needed in several places at once.
With no loft tank required, they suit homes without usable roof space and are compatible with solar thermal systems for a more eco-friendly setup.
They do require room for a hot water cylinder, and because they store heated water, they’re slightly less efficient than combi.
We offer system boilers with up to 12 years manufacturer’s warranty.
Regular (traditional) boilers work with both a hot water cylinder and, in many cases, a cold-water tank in the loft. They’re ideal for older homes with existing vented heating systems, especially where the pipework or radiators may not handle the higher pressure of a modern combi or system boiler.
They can supply multiple taps or showers at once without a drop in pressure and may work well in areas with low mains pressure. Regular boilers also pair effectively with solar thermal systems.
However, they take up more space and store hot water, meaning you need to wait for it to reheat once the tank is emptied.
